Water circulation

The water management of a pool is essential for its perfect operation. The full volume must be involved and in movement. Dead zones must be excluded; they will be the source of problems in the short term, and of a high consumption of various products!

The movement of the water is generated by drawing water to the mechanical room. The number of drains and skimmers and their positioning will ensure optimum displacement of the volume. The number of water returns to the pool and their positions are essential for the horizontal and vertical movement of the water volume.

Proper dimensioning of the filtration pump is critical; the rotation of the volume is important, it is generally placed between 4 and 5 hours. This rate of rotation may be much lower for hot pools.

Filtration

Filtration is a fundamental element in the treatment of pool water. Its role consists of capturing and holding matter in suspension and the fine particles contained in the water. A well-maintained sand filter is thus able to capture particles as small as 0.03 mm (30 microns). The addition of polymer on top of the filter produces a noticeable improvement of the filter's performance.

Filters and maintenance

The management of sand filters is important. The manometer indicates the level of clogging. Beyond 0.3 to 0.4 bar (4-6 psi) it is necessary to make counter-washing of the filter. Consult the manufacturer's instructions.

At regular intervals, according to the type of pool (either 1 or 2 times per year), the filter will be cleaned with a specific product, in order to eliminate calcium deposits, and for the destruction of organic matter, pockets of algae and other undesirable substances.

The cartridge filters require special attention. In fact, the cutting power of substances in suspension is much weaker than in the case of sand filters. We recommend that you read attentively our cleaning procedure.

Filtration time

The basic rule is that the filtration time must be equal to one half the temperature of the water, in degrees centigrade.
· If the water is above 27°C (81°F), add 2 to 3 hours.
· If the water is above 30°C (86°F), it is better to filtrate 24/24.

The filtration system is most efficient when it operates continuously. The risk of losing control on the water quality is then greatly minimized.
